Free Indicators Pack for NT8 update: EasyTrade and Bar Timer

The Free Indicators Pack for NinjaTrader 8 has been updated with changes to EasyTrade and BetterBarTimer. EasyTrade now gives you a clearer check before placing an order, while BetterBarTimer works with both time and tick charts.

This update is mainly about making both indicators easier to trust during live chart work. You get clearer previews, useful warnings, and more control over what appears on the chart.

What changed? #

EasyTrade now does a better job of showing the order setup you are about to use. It reads the current account, quantity, and ATM selection from Chart Trader when you place the order. It also gives you clearer messages if something is missing or not ready.

BetterBarTimer has been rebuilt. It shows time remaining on time charts and ticks remaining on tick charts. You can control its size, position, colors, countdown style, and how it grows as the bar gets closer to closing.

EasyTrade update #

EasyTrade still uses the same simple action: hold your chosen long or short key, move the mouse to a price, and click to place the order.

The main changes are visible before and during that click:

  • The selected ATM stop and target levels can appear on the chart before you place the order.
  • You can change the stop color, target color, text color, and preview opacity.
  • The quantity is read from Chart Trader at the moment you place the order.
  • Your chosen price is kept on a valid price step for the selected market.
  • The close-to-market setting now checks the correct market price for long and short entries.
  • EasyTrade blocks a second click while the first order is still being handled.
  • It will not place an entry while both long and short keys are held.
  • Clear chart messages tell you when the account, connection, quantity, or chart is not ready.
  • Flatten All is less likely to run twice from one key press and now confirms whether the request was sent.
Important: EasyTrade uses the ATM selected in Chart Trader. If ATM is set to None, the entry is placed without automatic stop or target orders.

EasyTrade checklist before an entry #

  1. Make sure Chart Trader is enabled on the chart.
  2. Check the selected account and order quantity.
  3. Select the ATM you want to use, or choose None if you intentionally want an entry without an ATM.
  4. Hold the EasyTrade long or short key and move the mouse to your planned entry.
  5. Check the entry line and ATM preview before clicking.
Good practice: Test the updated controls on a Sim account first. EasyTrade can place orders quickly, so it is worth checking your keys, account, quantity, and ATM before using it on a live account.

BetterBarTimer update #

BetterBarTimer now adapts to the chart it is placed on:

  • Time charts show how much time remains before the current bar closes.
  • Tick charts show how many ticks remain before the next bar begins.
  • The countdown resets when a new bar starts.
  • You can choose seconds, minutes and seconds, or hours, minutes and seconds.
  • You can change the font, base text size, text color, and chart position.
  • The timer can grow in steps or grow smoothly as the bar progresses.
  • You can limit the maximum size so the countdown never takes over the chart.
  • A separate warning color can appear near the end of the bar.

The timer also shows a clear message when it is waiting for data, disconnected, outside market hours, or placed on a chart type it does not support.

A useful BetterBarTimer starting setup #

The default settings are a sensible place to start:

Enable Scaling = On
Scaling Mode = Stepped
Scale Factor = 1.2
Scale Period (%) = 20
Maximum Scale = 3
Use Warning Color = On
Warning Starts At (%) = 20

On a 5 minute chart, a 20% scale period means the text changes size once per minute. With the warning set to 20%, the warning color appears during the final minute.

If the size jumps feel distracting, switch the scaling mode to Smooth. If you prefer a fixed timer, turn scaling off and keep the warning color on.

How to get the update #

  1. Download the latest Free Indicators Pack file.
  2. Open NinjaTrader 8 and go to Tools > Import > NinjaScript Add-On.
  3. Select the downloaded file and finish the import.
  4. Restart NinjaTrader 8 so the latest indicator files load cleanly.
  5. Add EasyTrade or BetterBarTimer to a chart and review the new settings.
